Activity Role Overview

In this activity, I was invited to the Department of Life Science at National Taiwan University on June 19, 2024, to introduce the analysis workflow of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq). The presentation was designed to help students and researchers understand how raw single-cell sequencing data can be processed and transformed into biologically meaningful results. My talk covered the general scRNA-seq analysis pipeline, including Cell Ranger processing, quality control, ambient RNA removal, gene- and cell-level filtering, normalization, integration, clustering, cell type annotation, and differential expression analysis. I also introduced commonly used tools and concepts such as Seurat, CellBender, SCTransform, marker genes, automated cell typing methods, and DEG analysis strategies. The goal of this session was to provide a step-by-step overview of how bioinformaticians approach single-cell data analysis, from count matrix generation to downstream biological interpretation, and to help the audience build a practical understanding of the key decisions and challenges involved in scRNA-seq analysis.
